Our Music, Hip Hop and R&B to be particular is infused with seduction and illumination of sex, sexuality, and sexual skill. It numbs us as youth from having the giggles about sex and the conviction that we are not prepared for such acts. Ultimately robbing our mental innocence. It is my hypothesis after discussing this topic with a few best friends, That our music is intended to train us and desensitize us to become highly sexual beings. It educates us about an activity we know nothing about, but it keeps this act on the forefront of our minds so that we inquire about it and define it as the goal of maturity, love, beauty, satisfaction, or manhood. Since middle school there have been songs like "Freak a Leek" by Peety Pablo any Too Short Song, and Candy Shop by 50 cent that have been on replay by youth. The sexual metaphors and blatancy that were in these songs has had longevity in being the theme within music. Our Music is made to be an experience and a fantasy. I was not aware of this even slightly until I made the choice (Well really God changed my heart) to choose music that magnifies and glorifies God rather then the music of my generation that in no way Glorifies My Savior. Once I became free from the chains of my secular music. I could feel the freedom of my mind, body, and soul. As I cut off the highly sexual messages that my music hummed in my ear and ultimately my soul, I decided to replace it with music that cried out to the Lord in reverance. I came to learn that their are so many genres of music for the Lord. Great Gospel Rap artist like Lecrae and Flame, worship music by Mali Music, Israel Houghton, Hillsong United, Marvin Sapp, and V Rose. I began to see that I could still enjoy the music I liked and glorify the Lord as well! There are times when I miss listening to Drake and all that, but I see their chains. They are slaves to their own sin, as we as youth become slaves to their music. They get us hooked early and hard. They seduce and our friends to love and ultimatelly need thier music. They proclaim things that are not Good in the sight of the Lord. Their highly sexual lyrics do not produce good fruits in me. So God gave me conviction to eliminate this music's power over my life. For that I am grateful. I can see and hear life so much clearer. No more an addiction to my ipod. Music in isolation and in a crowd, where only the music speaks to us and for us. I am now able to hear God's voice clearer and share an express my thoughts with him and others. This is the smokescreen that presents itself in music, that it is all we need as youth to connect to and to learn from. It becomes our life and ultimately our chains. Parents and youth be aware of the enemy's tactics to chain us up.

I tend to think alot, I naturally care alot and I love alot. So Iv'e decided to combine those and write alot. In hopes to free my inner thoughts and expose them to the outer world. Love it and completely agree with it. On the other hand I proudly admit that I am a completely secular person, but that doesn't mean I can't see these artists lack morals too. Something to think about =)

My sister "whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things." (Philippians 4:8)
When we are young and sexuality is something that is new and exciting I think we are all eager to find out more about it. I think you're right, sometimes music can tutor us more than we realize.
At the same time lyrics are lyrics. I don't find all secular music to be bad or unhelpful. I think what we can hear and how we hear it has a lot more to do with what season we're in and our identity as a beloved child of God. Music can't make you do anything. You still have to take responsibility for your own sexuality and how you express it.
You are a person of conviction who lives out your faith not because you have turned off your ipod, but when you're with a guy you like, the lights are turned off, and you remember in that moment that you are a daughter of God who deserves to be treated with respect and dignity (and to treat others in that way too).
Keep listening to lovely things my sister, and don't "conform to the pattern of this world," but also "test and approve" what will be helpful for you in your journey towards God's good, pleasing and perfect will for your life (Romans 12:2).
